Richmond's core base of housing providers is not Wall street. It’s not a corporate conglomerate that relies on the exploitation of its vulnerable citizens as a means to reap profits. We are a large group of small time property owners who work hard to provide reasonable housing to members of the Richmond community. Our business is small business; one that values the relationship between renter and housing provider and strives to create a balance in which the needs of both parties are met. While we all may not live in Richmond, and we cannot all claim to be perfect, the value of locally owned and managed rental housing by members of the immediate and surrounding community should not be underestimated. 

Our Goal

Our goal is balance. We believe the wants and needs of both tenants and landlords can equally be met. We cannot shift rights and entitlements to one section of the community, at the expense of another, and expect the city maintain its cohesiveness. We must provide tenants with a sense of protection and stability, and also allow for the much needed incentives for housing providers to continue to maintain and improve their properties, so that all can positively contribute to the community. If Richmond does not respect the rights of the small rental housing providers, and continues to enforce measures that punish them, the reality is that the local owners will be forced to exit the business. Those that replace the small landlords will be the only ones that can afford it, which are the faceless, large, corporate entities the city tries so hard to resist. We believe that through coming together, sharing experiences and ideas, and providing a unified voice, we can help influence, change, and reform the measures we feel are so detrimental to the city of Richmond.
